awake is the new sleep?

or is sleep is the new awake??? Either way I am exhausted this morning! Last night I went to say a really sad and long good bye to a really good friend, ate a yummy $5 steak, sampled some salt and pepper squid and drank glass after glass of diet coke!I knew I would have no sleep and a big day ahead! We did all the things we could to avoid why we were there in the first place, blew up balloons, talked about terrible things that we did to our brothers and sisters growing up and cracking dumb jokes until the crying started!I think as I get older and choose my friends and the people I want to spend time with, it makes it harder when they leave. For over 2 years she has been such a big prescence and support in my life as well as full of energy and plans and ideas and laughter. I'll miss her! :( The only wine I had was an entire glass dropped all over my jeans and it stank. I drove home listening to that song sobeautiful - click on so beautiful video on rhs!- Darren Hayes - really mushy cheesy stuff - with surprisingly astute lyrics and then had to get up to go to a shop meeting this morning.

This morning I had a really successful meeting for the Christmas in July event! We have almost 26 shops involved, a santa outfit (hmmm! need a santa to fill it!), a charity which we will have donation boxes for all of July, the trees and some schools involved! I can't believe it's nearly July and that we managed to pull so much together so quickly and efficiently and it is so nice to promote the shop and make a contribution! I had got a hug and some great coffee and toast with ricotta - always the best way to start the day! :)
It's pouring with rain today, am exhausted and I have a women's network meeting tonight - so am smartly dressed and prepped for it! It looks like it is going to be comfort reading today - so far everyone is buying fiction like Tim Winton and Helen Fielding...
I am still reading My Lover's Lover - Maggie O Farrell - the style is a bit confusing and disjointed but I want to know what is happening with Lily and all the creepy things that are happening to her since she moved into Marcus's flat and very soon after into his bed. I am intrigued!
